Who We Are

The Alberta Students’ Executive Council (ASEC) is a provincial advocacy organization comprised of seventeen (17) students’ associations from universities, colleges, and polytechnic institutions in Alberta. The ASEC membership, in turn, represents more than 110,000 students from across the province.

Our mission & Vision

ASEC offers leadership opportunities through training, advocacy, and collaboration for Student Leaders. We provide a place where students learn, lead, and work together to create innovative solutions for Alberta’s post-secondary sector. As a solutions-focused organization, ASEC is committed to conducting research and creating policy solutions that will help all Albertans access a high-quality and affordable post-secondary education. Our priorities are member-driven, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of a diverse set of students. Our approach is to show how our findings can benefit our membership, our stakeholders, and Alberta.

ASEC is a member-driven organization governed by a council of delegates, comprised of student representatives from each of the seventeen (17) member institutions, a permanent staff team based out of Edmonton, Alberta, and a Board of Directors comprised of eight (8) voting student members, two (2) appointed advisors from two different member associations, and ASEC’s Executive Director. The ASEC staff team consists of an Executive Director, Director of Operations and Finance, and a Public Relations and Advocacy Director.
